A Letter to Kerry
Close your eyesAnd I'm there...

Just behind you At your shoulder.

My voice, A gentle breeze upon your cheek.

My touch,

The warmth of the sun upon your skin.I will wrap myself around you as the dayAnd carry you off to dream as the night.

If your heart aches with emptyness Take comfort knowing that mine aches as well

Waiting can strip a soul bare...And distance can wear it down to the bone,

Leaving doubts to feed upon its flesh.

Just know that I am with you...And you do not wait alone.

No Mistakes
She has her father's eyes,Like whiskey warmed by a fire.

Only different somehow.

Seventy seven pounds Of Energy and impatience.

And I scramble to keep up most days.

She tells me about her day, Over hot chocolate and fractions.

Do I know who Ellen Ochoa is?I do now...

She watches in fascination As I point out her wrong answers.

Don't you ever make mistakes?

And I look into her eyes, Like those of the man who left usYears ago...

Only different somehow...

And I smile.I can't think of one at the moment.
